Impact of Plurilingualism on Learning Quality in Evening (Shift) Schools

<p><em>This paper presents the main findings of the second stage of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Lifelong Learning study (2011-2014) on identification of good practices that facilitate adult learning (aged 18-24) engagement in second chance education in evening (shift) schools. It analyses students’ perceptions of plurilingual learning processes and the impact of people’s plurilingualism on their learning. Aquest treball tracta sobre l’ús polític de les llengües i, singularment, centra l’atenció en el programa de plurilingüisme educatiu posat en marxa pel govern de la Generalitat Valenciana el 2012. Considerem que aquesta iniciativa obeïa una voluntat conscient del partit en el govern (PP) de minoritzar més encara el valencià davant el castellà, amb l’excusa de millorar el coneixement d’anglés. L’articolo descrive il modello didattico di ItaStra ponendone in rilievo i caratteri fondamentali, incentrati sul ruolo attivo dell’apprendente in quanto soggetto artefice di cittadinanza democratica e sulla considerazione specifica delle dinamiche di repertorio.  I contenuti del modello si sviluppano su quattro direttrici teorico-settoriali analiticamente descritte. On Migration and Illiteracy—Dealing With Texts in L2 Italian Initial-Literacy Classes

Acquiring the language spoken in the host country is crucial for social inclusion of migrants. From this perspective, illiteracy represents a social problem since it has repercussions on second-language acquisition/learning process. In order to investigate the role of illiteracy in L2 Italian acquisition, the paper aims at analyzing the oral productions of L2 Italian learners with equal L1 but a different level of education, i.e., low educated vs. non-educated.
